"Who Do You Love (2010)" provides a great look into the world of musicduring the 50's and 60's, showing the audience how Blues becameextremely popular and how Rock and Roll was created, so if you canexpect anything walking in, it's fantastic music. The cast, includingAlessandro Nivola (Leonard Chess), David Oyelowo (Muddy Waters), ChiMcBride (Willie Dixon), Jon Abrahams (Phil Chess), Lisa Goldstein(Sheva Chess), Megalyn Echikunwoke (Ivy Mills), and Robert Randolph (BoDiddley), all put on phenomenal performances, all those that did usetheir musical vocals singing the classic songs that influencedgenerations as if they were their own. Jerry Zaks, who as a directorhas spent most of his career so far on television, has proved to handlea feature film quite well, using very good shots and angles as he hadwith his three episodes of "Two And A Half Men" (Episodes include"Tucked, Taped, and Gorgeous", "Aunt Myra Doesn't Pee A Lot", and "AndThe Plot Moistens"). Of the movies I have seen that were written byPeter Martin Wortmann and Robert Conte, this is by far their best, withcatchy, funny dialogue and smart, well thought out characters andevents (even though based on a true story). The movie depicts the startof a new world of music, something that went on to develop and changeinto a large amount of mini-genres and has shown all it's listeners anew way to express culture, feelings, actions, opinions, and the worldin general. "Who Do You Love" is recommended to everyone, but is a mustsee for lovers of old blues and classic rock and roll as well as theolder audience. 7.6/10

This is the abridged version of the founding of Chess records, with theemphasis on Leonard Chess and his first big star, Muddy Waters. I justwatched this movie at a film festival, having not previously been awareof it. It is rather amateurish though some of the recreations ofperformances, like that of Bo Diddley in particular, and some of themusic is really excellent. My two big complaints involve first, thestory line, which emphasizes the life of Leonard Chess and about whichthere is very little to maintain a plot and second, the character ofIvy Mills, who seems to be a composite. She sings Etta James songs, forexample, but her story line does not parallel the life of Etta James,so this is also annoying to me. Though this is the story of the two menwho arguably provided the basis for the creation of rock and roll, there is precious little rock and roll music or history.
